Volunteers of America Northern Rockies held a dedication ceremony Tuesday dedicating the Life House on the their campus in south Sheridan. The Life House is a men's treatment center for those struggling with substance abuse addiction.

Casper Mountain Wildfire Causes 400 to Evacuate

A rapidly spreading wildfire has burned at least one structure and forced the evacuation of up to 400 people on Casper Mountain.

Authorities say as many as five structures have burned so far in the path of the Sheep Herder Hill Fire about 10 miles southeast of the Casper city limits.

Downtown Art Display Meshes Contrasting Styles

This month's display at the Sheridan College Main Street Gallery downtown features two artists with seemingly contrasting styles, but a common emphasis on light makes for a complimentary display. Pat Trout and Sonja Caywood are both accomplished local artists.

Growth Potential Remains High For Gilead Fire

The Bighorn National Forest issued a media release regarding the latest information on the Gilead Fire northwest of Buffalo. It states that Chuck Russell’s type 3 incident management team took over management of the fire early Thursday morning. Safety concerns preclude firefighters on the ground.

Officials with the Bighorn National Forest have confirmed that the Gilead Fire 10 miles northwest of Buffalo in the National Forest has grown substantially after a very active Wednesday. BHNF Public Affairs Specialist Susie Douglas.

Fire North of Clearmont

More information about the grass fire burning on private land north of Clearmont has been obtained. Sheridan County Fire Warden Bill Biastoch says that crews continue to battle the blaze that is approximately 6-8 miles north of Clearmont. He indicated that a myriad of firefighters have combined to fight the fire. Those include Clearmont Fire Department, Big Horn Fire Department, Goose Valley Fire, the Bureau of Land Management, the Wyoming Forestry Division, the U.S. Forest Service and various ranchers in the area.

Accident on I-90

At approximately 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rocky Mountain Ambulance along with the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Sheridan County Sheriff's Office, Goose Valley Fire Department and Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to an accident on Interstate 90 just behind the Kmart in Sheridan.
