Sheridan County commissioners approved a little over $46,000 in additional optional sales tax funds for four organizations during their staff meeting Monday.

Commission Chairman Tom Ringley said the money was for one-time-only expenses.

Additional funds approved Monday included $8,300 more to the Tongue River Valley Community Center to help them participate in a pathway study. Ringley said that's in addition to the $10,000 the county already provides to the center.

Also approved was an additional $8,400 to the Child Development Center for hearing diagnostic equipment and to cover fuel and vehicle expense for in-home services to infants and toddlers.

Another $20,000 was approved for Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns for two new Habitat Homes, and $10,000 for the Sheridan Community Land Trust.

Ringley said the land trust is building an extension to the Soldier Ridge Trail, and the cost estimate came in higher than the land trust had expected.
