Library Board Formally Approves Story Library Expansion

A proposal for expansion of the Story Branch Library received formal approval from Sheridan County Public Libraries trustees in their meeting Wednesday night.

Marc Strahn, who's vice chairman of the Story library board, said the Story library board was recently gifted with a piece of real estate that included a couple of buildings to the west of the existing library building.

He said the agreement under which the Story library board currently leases the building from Sheridan County, requires written notice of intent and approval from the county library board.

In other action Wednesday, the county library board approved revisions in the Sheridan Fulmer Public Library's overdue/lost item policy.

The policy now states that overdue library accounts may be turned over to a collection agency after 60 days and that if an item is lost or damaged, the library can charge the current retail price for the item.

Library borrowing privileges will also be suspended for accounts owing a balance to the library of $5 or more.
