Alysia Henderson recently joined the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Story Fish Hatchery as a fish culturist.

According to information provided by the Game and Fish Sheridan Regional Office, fish culturists are responsible for the daily feeding of fish, cleaning of troughs and raceways, monitoring the health of the fish, recording water temperature and flow information, as well as assisting with spawning and stocking operations, equipment maintenance and other duties throughout the year.

Henderson, a native of Evanston, has a degree in zoology from the University of Wyoming and began her career with WGFD in May 2014 as a temporary aquatic invasive species technician. Soon after, she joined the Daniel Fish Hatchery as a culture technician and worked for six months before taking a permanent position as a fish culturist in July 2016. She worked at Daniel Hatchery for two years before transferring to Story Hatchery on September 1.
