Worland Man Arraigned in District Court on Drug Distribution Charge

An arraignment hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 39-year-old Everett Newell of Worland, who is charged with one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine.

Newell was charged with the felony for allegedly selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant in October of 2018 in Sheridan. The lapse in time between his arrest and his arraignment was due to the fact that he had to be extradited from California.

Newell pleaded “not guilty” to the charge and District Court Judge John Fenn set the date for the two-day trial to begin on May 4. Judge Fenn also scheduled a pretrial conference for April 2 at 10 am. Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
