Federal Government Says "Go Slow" for Oil Shale Development

Fast-tracking of oil shale development leases on public lands in Wyoming is taking a detour. The Department of the Interior has announced a new go-slow approach that's getting kudos from sportsmen’s groups, ranchers, and conservationists.

Dry Fork Plant Near Gillette Two-Thirds Done

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - Construction on the 385-megawatt Dry Fork Power plant north of Gillette is about 62% complete. Construction on the plant began two years ago. Most of the building is now enclosed and standing about 400 feet high next to an even taller smokestack.

Los Angeles Producer Wants to Shoot TV Series in Jackson

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Los Angeles producer is proposing to shoot a new television series chronicling the lives of young ski bums pursuing their recreational lifestyle in the resort setting of Jackson Hole.

Robert Hickey of Better Wings Entertainment describes the show, called "Epic," as a dramatic comedy with actors and scripted scenes that also incorporates elements of documentary.

Lower Bond Denied for Suspect in Attack on Hikers

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A judge has denied a lower bond for a Colorado man accused of attacking and trying to sexually assault two female hikers.

38-year-old James Jud Bondsteel of Loveland is being held in Larimer County jail on $100,000 bond. State District Judge Dave Williams Friday denied his request for a $50,000 surety bond after hearing from the hikers.

Grand Teton National Park Poacher Sentenced

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - A Rawlins man has had his hunting privileges revoked for a year, been put on one year of unsupervised probation and fined $1,025 for attempting to kill a large bull elk in Grand Teton National Park.

STATE CROSS COUNTRY - The Sheridan Lady Broncs finished 2nd in the State Cross-Country Championships Saturday at the Sheridan VA. For the Lady Broncs, Dana Morin was the overall champion and Lela Carpenter was 2nd.
