Wyoming Trooper Gets 15 Years In Prison

CHEYENNE, (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced a former Wyoming state trooper to serve 15 years in prison for kidnapping a truck driver in what prosecutors say was an aborted murder plot. U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson sentenced 42-year-old Franklin Ryle on Friday after a lengthy sentencing hearing that began Thursday.

Andrew Alonzo Lowe, 24, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his residence.

Andrew was born January 29, 1985 in Hardin, MT to Bruce Bernard and Connie Renee (Chatham) Lowe.

He grew up and attended schools in Joliet, MT, Fromberg Public Schools in Fromberg, MT, Tongue River Schools, and Ft. McKenzie High School in Sheridan, WY.

Sheri D. Tietjen 53, of Clearmont, Wyoming, passed away at West View Healthcare Center on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

Sheri was born on March 14, 1956, in Santa Monica, CA. to Donald H. and Ermal Roberts.

Sheri graduated from High School and attended college for two years. She married Blake Tietjen in 1995.

Family Mourns Loss of Wyoming Soldier

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The mother of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Zorn says her son knew early in life that he wanted to join the military, and he planned to spend his career in the service. Zorn died Monday in Tal Afar, Iraq, from injuries suffered in a roll-over crash. He was 35.

Troops' Post-Deployment Questionnaires Missing

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congressional investigators say tens of thousands of questionnaires aimed at measuring the mental and physical health of returning combat troops can't be found. As a result, the Government Accountability Office says, the military does not have reasonable assurances that the service members got the opportunity to report their health problems on the forms.

Death Warrant Hearing Set for Wyoming Inmate

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A death warrant hearing is scheduled for December 14th for Dale Wayne Eaton, the only inmate on Wyoming's death row.

Eaton was sentenced to death for the 1988 rape and murder of 18- year-old Lisa Marie Kimmell of Billings, Montana. The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review his case.

City Work Session on Water Treatment and Waste Water Treatment Standards

The City of Sheridan Utilities Department presented a Water and Wastewater Treatment Assessment Overview at the City Council Work Session in the 3rd Floor City Hall Council Chambers Thursday. Utilities Engineer Chris Knodel provided background information on the three drinking water facilities and the wastewater treatment facility.

Cause of Huge Wyoming Refinery Spill Happened Before

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A sinking storage tank roof at a Sinclair Oil refinery that caused Wyoming's biggest spill in decades earlier this year wasn't unprecedented: The same thing happened at a similar tank at the refinery in 2007. And leaks in the pontoons holding up the floating roofs occurred before both incidents.
