Ranchester Town Council Elects To Leave Dog Ordinance Alone

The Ranchester Town Council met for their first meeting of September Tuesday night. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there.

Two months ago, Ranchester residents Rick and Kathy Dellit addressed the council with their concerns over the town's ordinance pertaining to noisy dogs, in particular how citations were being issued.

Maurices To Help Dog And Cat Shelter With A Fashion Show Later This Month

In conjunction with the final 3rd Thursday downtown street festival in Sheridan, Maurices will be doing a fashion show at the band shell at Kendrick Park. The fashion show is part of a national promotion entitled “Rescues and Runways” that will benefit the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter.

Bob Ernst Remembered as a Man "Who Always Thought of Others"

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan held a full sanctuary Monday morning as Robert Ernst was honored in a memorial service following the fatal shooting that took his life last Wednesday morning in his home. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has more.

SHS WRESTLING / SOCCER - Former Sheridan wrestling coach Corey Hamrick resigned his position this past spring. Last week, the Sheridan County District 2 school board approved the hiring of Terry Burgess to take over the Bronc program. Burgess isn't new to coaching in School District 2; he coached the Bronc wrestlers from 1984-90.

Teachers and students were excited to start another school year yesterday. Sheridan County School District 2 Superintendent Craig Dougherty made sure to visit all the schools to see how things were going.

Teen Accuses Judge Of Getting Pushy

A group of local teenagers has accused Municipal Court Judge Stuart Healy of punching a young man on Saturday night. 18-year-old Lane Terzieff says that Judge Healy confronted the youth near Healy’s home on Clarendon Ave.

At some point during the incident, Terzieff says Healy punched him in the back. The teens have also alleged that Healy smelled of alcohol.

Acme Road Closed For Mine Repairs

The State of Wyoming Abandoned Mine Lands division is in the middle of a project to rehabilitate the Kleenburn Recreation Area near Acme. Part of the project will force the closure of the Acme highway for a while. The AML is going to finish their working on sealing the old Kearney Mine. Sheridan County Engineer Ken Muller explains what that will entail.

Hand In Hand Center Has One Week Until Classes Start

While most schools have started for the year by now, the Hand In Hand Early Childhood Education Center has one more week before students arrive. The facility should be complete and the staff will use this week to prepare the rooms for their first classes. Hand In Hand Executive Director Susan Brayton says they still have openings for more students.
