Most of the news this week coming out of Sheridan College was the $7.5 million that was approved by the Wyoming Legislature to construct a new Academic Center on campus.
The City of Sheridan will no doubt benefit from the additional funds approved by the Legislature, but just how big of a boost will it be amidst declining revenues.
The State Legislature's decision to increase funding to local governments by $10 million figures to be a much needed boost to governments who are once again projecting budget shortfalls.
Wednesday a budget amendment that would have restored the remaining 4% of the 10% funding cuts to agencies around the state that work with the developmentally disabled failed in the House. The cuts were made nearly three years ago during the Freudenthal Administration.

The Sheridan Recreation District has developed a list of goals and objectives for the next 3 to 5 years. The plan highlights five different areas that will be focused on; parks, facilities, programs, community involvement and the recreation department as a whole.
Tuesday and Wednesday, the third candidate in the running for the position of Superintendent of Sheridan County School District 1, Paige Fenton-Hughes of Lander, met with Trustees, faculty, staff and the public.
Two of the originally designed birdhouses to be auctioned off next week at Sheridan High School. The handpainted "bird & feathers" was done by SHS Principal Dirlene Wheeler. The "cabin" was done by Heidi Richins, Family & Consumer Sciences instructor.
