In what appeared to be a new event during the 32nd Annual Volunteers of America Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving was the Pumpkin Toss. Here 6-youngsters lined up and on signal launched their pumpkins to see who could throw their's the furtherest. The 32nd Annual Turkey Trot is Underway

At just after 10:00 am Thanksgiving morning Gene Sturlin, from Sheridan Media, with his left arm in the air signaled the start of the 32nd Annual Volunteers of America Turkey Trot in Kendrick Park.

Darren and Doug sit on the Volunteers of America trailer where the canned goods are being collected. The "one" large can is evidently Darrens entry fee as he already has his number on for the Trot.
As Jennifer Clark signs in her youngster is all eyes.
I told you he was all eyes as he waited for Mom to sign-up for the Trot
At the other end of the sign-up table a smiling Ethan has just finished signing up - we'll have to look for #407 on the course.
Pumpkin Dwellers - we'll check back here later for the pumpkin throwing
Above the pumpkins participants are signing up, getting their numbers pinned to their chest and canned donnations are being deposited into the Volunteers of America trailer.b
Volunteers of America members are ready at the finish line to capture the times.

And this pumpkin by Martha is underway
Tava waits behind the starting line barrier for her one-mile trot to get underway
The crowd of runners/walkers is forming near the start line

If I were a betting man I'd bet on Michael Rotellini #93 to come in first after the 4-laps
Looks like Dennis Jacobs and his boys Toby and Wade are "numbered up" and ready to go
From his perch by the lion Gene Sturlin is asking for the barricades to be removed
Lot's of participants hit the roads of Kendrick Park
The finish line awaits the finishers
Here comes Michael in the lead after lap one
And your first place finisher is Michael Rotellini - I wonder if he made his predicted time
And here comes the first female finisher Marissa Hegy
Here come Jennifer Drake but her hair is not a flying like usual
Ah that's better Jennifer
Another finisher - but where is your number?
That's better
Hey Dave!
That's better
Hi Kerri

A trusting leap
Following the Turkey Trot several winners of pies were announced - this one went to Peggy
Here Betty and the Mitchell triplets show off two of the pies they are taking home
