Fire Danger in Bighorns Remains Very High

The Bighorn National Forest issued a media release stating that despite Wednesday’s cloudy and cooler weather, the Bighorn National Forest is still in Very High fire danger, and will be continuing with fire restrictions.

Sophie Shepley Pelissier

Sophie Pelissier, 71, of Big Horn, Wyoming passed away on August 15th, 2012 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

She was born to Ethan A.H. Shepley and Sophie Baker Shepley in St. Louis, Missouri on January 18th, 1941, the youngest of four children. Sophie graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut in 1959 and attended Washington University in St. Louis.

Sheridan co-rec state runner up softball team.

The state tournament was held in Powell. They lost to Cole sports from Gillette 13-11 in the 10th inning in the title game.

Standoff at Apple Tree Inn Ends Safely

A police standoff that lasted several hours Tuesday at the Apple Tree Inn on Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan ended safely as 61-year-old J. Tuck was taken into custody after barricading himself in a room for much of the day.
