Alexis Bernard and Philco Silver Moon took the championship ribbon in jumping competition as miniature horse events kicked off the outdoor shows Thursday morning at this year's Sheridan County Fair.

Jackline Carol Nissen, 61, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family, after a year long battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Kane Funeral Home with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. A Reception will be held at the family home at 7 McNally Lane.


Brett Reed recieves hall of fame award from WHSAA commisioner Ron Laird

Longtime Sheridan basketball and baseball official Brett Reed was recently inducted into the class of 2013 of the Wyoming sports officials hall of fame.

The ceremony was held in Casper during the Wyoming coaches association annual conference and all-star weekend.

Fatal Motorcycle Wreck in Sheridan County Wednesday

A motorcyclist from Saskatchewan, Canada died at the scene Wednesday of a wreck on U.S. Highway 14A just a few miles west of Burgess Junction in Sheridan County. Nina A. Fonger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sergeant Stephen Townsend with the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Environmental Study on Coal Trains Underway

A group of federal, state and local agencies are preparing for a two-year study on the health effects from coal dust, greenhouse gas emissions and how increased rail traffic affects people, communities and emergency response systems along the rail line.

Johnson County Fair 2013 Results: Sheep, F&F

Tuesday was the day for the sheep shows at the Johnson County Fair, and a number of showmen earned awards and trips to the State Fair.
