The McDonald's on North Main in Sheridan did something special Thursday for kids getting ready to start another school year, as free backpacks were given out to the little ones.

Wyo. ACT Scores Lower than 2012, National Average

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming's scores on the ACT college entrance exam are lower than last year's and also below the national average. The average overall score for Wyoming students in the 2013 results was 19.8, down a half point from last year.

On August 18, a group of shooters at the Buffalo Run recreational area in Sheridan County started a fire due to the use of exploding targets. Earlier this month the U.S. Forest Service prohibited the use of exploding targets on national forest and grasslands in the Rocky Mountain Region.

SMH Blood Screenings Continue Through Friday

Wellness screenings offered by Sheridan Memorial Hospital to the general public are still taking place through Friday. The main test, the blood chemistry/lipid-direct LDL screen, provides information used by healthcare providers to measure a person's overall health.
