Wyo. ACT Scores Lower than 2012, National Average

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming's scores on the ACT college entrance exam are lower than last year's and also below the national average. The average overall score for Wyoming students in the 2013 results was 19.8, down a half point from last year.

On August 18, a group of shooters at the Buffalo Run recreational area in Sheridan County started a fire due to the use of exploding targets. Earlier this month the U.S. Forest Service prohibited the use of exploding targets on national forest and grasslands in the Rocky Mountain Region.

SMH Blood Screenings Continue Through Friday

Wellness screenings offered by Sheridan Memorial Hospital to the general public are still taking place through Friday. The main test, the blood chemistry/lipid-direct LDL screen, provides information used by healthcare providers to measure a person's overall health.

Liz Cheney Issues Statement on Resident Fishing License Fine

Candidate for U.S. Senate, Liz Cheney, has paid $220 after she was ticketed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for purchasing a resident fishing license when she had only been in state for a few months.


LADY BRONC SWIMMING / DIVING - The Lady Bronc swimmers and divers open next week at the Gillette relays and pentathlon Friday and Saturday.

Head coach Brent Moore says most of the swimmers came into practice this week with good summer training already behind them.

And he says that has them ahead of schedule in their early season training process.

And with numbers up the team building is very important for the swimmers to feed off each other in practice and in competition.

Johnson County OKs Grant App After Investigation

The Johnson County Commissioners, at their Tuesday meeting, approved the grant application from the Buffalo Senior Center for a CDBG to pay for a study on the facility in the amount of $15,000.
