The Public Land Users Committee, or PLUC, held their monthly meeting Tuesday, where they discussed the next step in garnering public access to the Big 5 Sections, which is a large area of state land bordering Sheridan and Johnson Counties, just west of Lake DeSmet.

The Sheridan College Board of Trustees adopted a master plan in 2010, that includes several phases and outlines renovations and new construction on campus to address aging facilities and space deficiencies.

Geologists with the University of Wyoming have performed a study that shows bedrock may be just as important as temperature and moisture in regulating the distribution of vegetation across mountain slopes.

At a special meeting Tuesday morning the Johnson County Commissioners passed Resolution No. 493, allocating $161,000 towards the $700,000 local match for Critical Air Service at Sheridan's Airport.

Sheridan County had pledged $539,000 in their special meeting Monday.

A local boy scout approached the Buffalo City Council at their last meeting to ask permission to install his proposed project at Tie Hack Reservoir this summer.

Johnson County School District One's Board of Trustees appointed three members to the Johnson County Recreation Board at their meeting Monday night.

There were five applicants, two of which were incumbents; John Hepp and Scott Mills.

A group called PLUC, which stands for Public Land User Committee, wants the people of the greater Sheridan and Johnson county area to band together to fund a road and parking lot on a piece of public land.
