Four Independent Candidates, Two Write-ins Make State Ballot

State Capitol Officials announced this week that two statewide independent candidates--Curt Gottshall of Laramie, candidate for U.S. Senate, and Don Wills of Pine Bluffs, candidate for Governor--have qualified to have their names appear on the General Election ballot.

Don King Days Honor Long-Time Saddle-Maker

Born in Douglas in August 1923, Don King was the grandson of a cowhand who homesteaded in Converse County after making eight cattle drives up from Texas.

Dr. J.H. And Mrs. Bradfield are back home in Sheridan after a very narrow escape when the Admiral Sampson, on which they were passengers, went down in the waters of Puget Sound.

Cause Determined in Yellowstone Employee Death

The autopsy has been completed on a Yellowstone concession employee whose body was found in the Old Faithful area earlier this week.

The University of Wyoming will be hosting a panel discussion on September 10th commemorating the 50th anniversary of the federal Wilderness Act and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act.

Bronc football wins big / Cowboys host Montana today

BRONC FOOTBALL - The Bronc football team beat Laramie Friday night 49-6 in winning their regular season opener.

The Broncs scored seven touchdowns including an interception return of 60 yards from Joe Shassetz for a score and Coy Steel had a 65 yard punt return for another.

Next week the Broncs will be on the road at Kelly Walsh in Casper.

In other 4-A action Gillette beat KW 54-0, Natrona county beat Cheyenne Central 48-20, Cheyenne East beat Rock Springs 34-15 and Evanston held off Cheyenne South 21-17.

County to Consider On-Farm Sales Resolution

Sheridan County commissioners will consider a resolution that would allow on-farm sales of product and agricultural processing in their meeting on Tuesday morning.
