The Whiz Bang Fireworks Stand on the north side of Sheridan was a busy place as people planned on kicking off the New Year with a bang.

Owner Carl Geertz said it’s a tradition that came from the South.

Nobody can hold a candle to the Sheridan Senior Center when it comes to having a party, especially on New Year’s Eve.

The Senior Center held its annual New Year’s Eve at Noon Celebration complete with music, hats, noise makers and and toast at noon.

Mass of Christian Burial for Claire Hollcroft, 91 year old Buffalo resident who passed away early Wednesday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo will be celebrated Saturday, January 2nd at 10:00 a.m. from the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel on Friday from 10:00 a.m.

Sheridan Woman Sentenced to Prison for Bank Fraud

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced 37-year-old Alecia Rae Bolton of Sheridan to 51 months in prison for Bank Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft. Freudenthal also ordered Bolton to pay $86,000 in restitution to the victims of her fraud. The information comes from U.S.

The Better Business Bureau just released their list of top ten scams for 2015. On the top of that list is a scam where fraudsters claim to be from the Internal Revenue Service.

2015 Sheridan Elks Hoop Shoot Results

The Elks Hoop Shoot was held at the Sheridan YMCA.

The first place winners of the local Hoop Shoot qualify to participate in the District Hoop Shoot to be held in Casper on Jan. 30.

37 boys and girls from Buffalo, Sheridan, Big Horn, and Tongue River schools participated.

Winners are:
8 - 9 year old girls: 1- Cassidy Bessler, Cloud Peak Elementary, Buffalo 15/25
2- Emma Prior, Big Horn 14/25

8-9 yr. old boys: 1- Connor Cummins, Tongue River Elementary 15/25
