James Henry Townsend

James Henry Townsend, 91, of Sheridan, died October 7, 2015 at his home after he lost his battle with cancer. Jim was born on Beaver Creek on August 12, 1924 to early Sheridan County Pioneers Benitta Helen (Dow) and Edward Sherman Townsend. At the age of 7, Jim’s family moved from Beaver Creek to a home on Little Goose Creek where they continued to farm.

‘Unqualified’ Hunter Gets Grand Teton Protest Elk License

A Jackson photographer who has sued to stop the annual elk hunt in Grand Teton National Park has secured a license to shoot an elk starting Oct. 24.

Waddell Gallery Showing Receives Rave Reviews

A record crowd of more than 150 people attended the artists’ reception Thursday night at the Sage gallery in Sheridan for the exhibit opening of father, daughter artists Theodore and Arin Waddell.

Citations Will be Issued for Passing School Bus

With school back in session, local police Lt. Tom Ringley took a moment during a recent interview to remind drivers that passing a bus with the lights flashing and stop sign out is against the law and citations will be issued.
