Johnson County's Commissioners have amended their current budget for FY 2015-16 to accommodate a Homeland Security Grant for the county's Emergency Management Office.

Commission Oks Funding for Airport Wildlife Fence, Annexes More Private Properties Into County Fire Districts

UPDATE: The Sheridan County Commission approved both a federal and state grant to help fund replacement of a wildlife fence on the county airport grounds in Sheridan, during Tuesday morning’s meeting, and continue to annex private parcels of land into county fire districts.

Commission Continues County Fire District Annex Effort

As reported earlier, more private property parcels were annexed into Sheridan County Fire Districts Tuesday in Big Horn, Clearmont and Sheridan Area Rural.

County Approves Logging Contract for Story Fuel Break

A 16-acre fuel break for Story and fuels treatment project will move forward, now that the Sheridan County Commission has accepted a bid from JL and Sons Logging.

Sheridan College volleyball adds local standout Ashlee Purcella to the 2016 roster

Ashlee Purcella is a 5’10” Middle Hitter from Kaycee.

Low Rail Transportation Demand Keeps 150 Locomotives Idle

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad officials say they are keeping about 150 locomotives and rail engines stored near Gillette because of decreased demand.

Senator Kinskey Weighs In on Medicaid Expansion

Governor Matt Mead’s budget proposal for the biennium calls for legislators to expand Medicaid to cover more than 20,000 state residents who cannot afford health insurance. The Legislature has been apprehensive of buying into the plan that is part of President Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act.

City Planning Commission Chair Resigns

City of Sheridan Planning Commission Chairman Jason Szewc has announced his resignation from the position immediately. In an email sent to city staff and local media outlets, Szewc said “as planning commission chair, I have to make decisions based what is the right thing to do”.
