Legislative Forum: Making the Cut in Education

Last week the State Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee voted to cut $45 million in K-12 education funding.

Earlier this week at the Legislative Forum in Sheridan, our local legislators received an update from Megan Degenfelder from Cloud Peak Energy, who own and operate three coal mines in the Powder River Basin, including the Spring Creek Mine, 35 miles north of Sheridan in Montana.

Speaking on behalf of the City of Sheridan, City Council President Shelleen Smith discussed the importance of the Wyoming Business Council at this week’s Legislative Forum in Sheridan.

Caywood’s Cows Draw Crowd

Stepping into the room, I was surrounded by cows. No, I was not in a barn, I was at the SAGE art center in the midst of Sonja Caywood’s one-woman show of about 30 paintings of cows.

Bronc / Lady Bronc hoops v Cheyenne East live tonight / Bronc Wrestlers host East and Central at Sheridan junior high / Hawks Hockey home Saturday night and Sunday morning

BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS - The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams host games with Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. game times tonight are at 5:30 and 7:00 and tomorrow at 11:30 and 1:00 all four games can be heard live on KWYO and 87.7 FM ESPN radio.

The Lady Broncs opened conference play with two victories last week and tonight against East they face a big, fast T-bird squad, Head coach Jessica Pickett.

And she says the younger players have shown great improvement over the last several weeks.

JCHC Considering Policy Change To 'Smoke-Free' Campus

The Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center is considering a possible policy change to make the campus encompassing the clinic, hospital, and adult care facility as “smoke-free.”

The proposal was brought before the board at this week's meeting by Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.
