Boot Kick-off Launches WYO-Rodeo Week

All three of the top contenders in the men's division sent their boots flying more than 110 feet, but Matthew Wigglesworth sent his boot fractionally farther to take first prize in the men's boot kick-off Tuesday night.

Among the crowd at Tuesday's Sheridan-WYO Rodeo Boot Kick-off was Dana Bowman, founder of the HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation, who'll be skydiving into this week's rodeo performances.

Fatal Crash North of Kaycee

There was a fatal crash north of Kaycee on I-25 Monday morning at 10:23. The crash occurred while 66-year-old Clifford and 65-year-old Brenda VanCampen from Lamar, Colorado were changing a tire on their car dolly.

Graveside funeral services for James Robins, 85 year old Johnson County resident who passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10th at the V.A. Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming will be held Friday, July 15th at 10 a.m. from Willow Grove Cemetery with Joe Lansiedel officiating. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 14th from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Governor Mead Appoints Buffalo Resident as Poet Laureate

During a signing ceremony for his Executive Order, Wyoming Governor Matt Mead announced Eugene M. Gagliano as the new Poet Laureate for Wyoming. Gagliano is a retired elementary school teacher from Buffalo and is the eighth Poet Laureate in state history.
