Now here's Sheridan Media's look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on July 29, 1916.

Fairgrounds Facilities Director Jamie Ringley said the Sheridan-WYO Rodeo earlier this month was a big success, and all of his focus is now on the Sheridan County Fair.

The 5th Street bike path project which was just let and awarded to the S & S Builders last week for $2 million will be underway shortly. This project will close the 5th Street bridge for approximately 40 days this fall beginning in the middle of August.

The Downtown Sheridan Association has once again partnered with the Flying H Polo Club and the Skey Johnston family for the Goose Creek Cup, the “highest rated polo game” in the U.S. this summer.

Effective at 12:01am Friday morning, the Bighorn National Forest will be implementing stage 1 fire restrictions. These regulations are intended to prevent human caused fires during a time when the forest has a fire danger of very high as a result of the hot, dry weather in recent weeks.

Rex Rammell has announced that he has withdrawn from the race for Wyoming’s lone U.S. House of Representatives seat. The 55-year-old republican from Gillette, has endorsed Darin Smith for the spot.

Currently at 85% containment, the Hatchery Fire, burning 7 miles east of Tensleep, should be fully controlled within the next few days. At 2,802 total acres burned, this human caused fire was started by a mechanical failure, more specifically overheated brakes.

Kim Love and Lynne and Pete Simpson have been selected as the inaugural recipients of the WYO Theater’s Lotus Award.
