Elk Populations Booming Ahead of Hunting Season

Feeders dole out hay at the Alkali Feedground in the Gros Ventre River drainage where wolves have disrupted Wyoming Game and Fish Department operations. Traditionally, some 3,500 elk winter in the drainage but last year only 86 elk were on feed there, the rest left for other places. Most travelled downriver to the National Elk Refuge. Petition to Restore Multiple-Use Public Lands

On September 5, Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship petitioned Secretary of the Interior Zinke to temporarily withdraw approximately 117,000 acres of public lands in Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming from oil and gas leasing. Over the past year-and-a-half, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has unsuccessfully tried to sell oil and gas leases on all of these lands.
