There has been no shortage of investment scams making headlines as of late and while scams in Wyoming may not make national news, they do occur on a regular basis. Compliance Division Director of the Secretary of State's Office Karen Wheeler explains that scams come in all shapes and sizes

The City of Sheridan began its budget workshops yesterday. The impacts of low natural gas prices and the economic woes facing the whole nation have encouraged a much leaner budget than in past years. Mayor Dave Kinskey presented a draft budget to the City Council that cuts over 11% from last year’s numbers.

Getting around parts of downtown Sheridan will be difficult this summer, and next year is already looking to be just as busy with capital construction projects. The biggest endeavor will be the North Main Reconstruction project. The City of Sheridan is partnering with WYDOT to get aging infrastructure repaired while the road surface is replaced from Dow Street to Fort Road.

The Wyoming Community Foundation and the Sheridan-Johnson County Community Foundation are sponsoring a program to help non-profit board members and their advisors become more efficient. The conference runs today at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Dr. Jean Garrison from the University of Wyoming delivered the keynote address last night.

The Wyoming Special Olympics begin this Thursday in Cheyenne. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office has participated in the Torch Run leading up to the games for the past several years. Sheridan County Sheriff Dave Hofmeier traditionally rides the first leg of the relay.
