CODY, Wyo. (AP) - A Bighorn sheep capture is taking place this weekend near Devil's Canyon in northern Wyoming. The captured sheep will be relocated to the Seminoe Mountain area in southern Wyoming. The effort is part of a long-range plan by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to repopulate the species in areas of the state where the animals once thrived.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Lands and Investments Board has awarded $375,715 to help build about 27 miles of hiking and biking trails near Jackson. The money will help pay for part of a $775,000 project intended to add trails and improve existing trails at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Snow King Resort, on Teton Pass and in the greater Snow King area.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in the Casper area say they arrested nearly 120 motorists during their annual holiday campaign to reduce drunken driving.

PINEDALE, (AP) - A Sublette County jury has convicted a man
of first-degree murder in the death of a Jackson woman whose body was found along a western Wyoming highway 25 years ago. The jury deliberated for a little more than two hours Friday before delivering a guilty verdict for 46-year-old Troy Dean Willoughby of Wickes, Montana.

CHEYENNE, (AP) - The state of Wyoming wants a judge to end federal management of gray wolves in the state. U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson of Cheyenne heard arguments Friday in a lawsuit the state of Wyoming filed against U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The City of Sheridan Planning Department has been working on streamlining the application process that is required of developer's and landowners. Monday night the City Council will address the administrative re-plat ordinance on 1st reading. City Planning Director Robert Briggs explains what the ordinance will accomplish.

Wyoming's Compliance Check program, which determines whether retail establishments are illegally selling alcohol or tobacco to youth, is seeing growing success according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

The U-S Forest Service is putting leasing plans for the Wyoming Range in reverse. The agency has released an analysis of contested leases on more than 40-thousand acres on the eastern front, and the indication is that the leases will be canceled.

At a Status Conference in 4th Judicial District Court Thursday morning, Dennis Poitra's attorney, Erin Wardell, made a motion to have Poitra undergo more mental health evaluation from a private mental health professional named Dr. Watt. Poitra is the adult member of the group of three teens who are accused of murdering Sheridan businessman Robert Ernst on August 26, 2009.

Sheridan County Circuit Court was a busy place Thursday afternoon with all manner of cases going before Judge John Sampson. Among them, the case of Wes R. Pierce, age 22, who was charged with Cruelty to Animals for keeping dogs locked in a back bedroom in his home in Clearmont.
