Some Sheridan area residents have had a tough time communicating recently due to the loss of phone and Internet services. Advanced Communications Technology issued a news release stating that the problem was due to an apparent equipment failure. The outage began shortly after 11 am Monday.

In conjunction with the Visions of the Universe Traveling exhibit at the Sheridan Fulmer Library, there will be a space film discussion series every Thursday night in March. Fulmer Library Programming Coordinator Anita Weisheit gives us some background on the upcoming films.

Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey officially proclaimed March as Disabilities Awareness Month Monday morning on the front steps of Sheridan City Hall. The Mayor was accompanied by several clients and staff of Rehabilitation Enterprises of North Eastern Wyoming. RENEW has been serving people with disabilities locally for more than 37 years.

Governor Dave Freudenthal has announced that Ed Grant, a retired Wyoming District Court Judge, will succeed Lynne Boomgaarden as Director of the Office of State Lands and Investments. The Governor said Grant will continue overseeing the office with the same dedication as Boomgaarden, who formally steps down April 9th.

Three weeks down, one to go as the Wyoming Legislative Budget Session draws to a close this Friday.

U.S. 14 highway closures are planned today and Tuesday, March 2, to allow workers to clean up a February 19th hazardous chemical spill in Shell Canyon east of Greybull.

Short closures are scheduled for Monday, while more lengthy closures are scheduled for Tuesday.

One way to improve Sheridan's recycling program is if well-intentioned recyclers stop trying to recycle everything -- including grandma's china. Charles Martineau, Solid Waste Manager for the City of Sheridan, says they have uses in the City for glass recyclables, but there is a greener way.

Fifteen dogs--including several labs, a French bulldog, a golden retriever, a Yorkshire terrier mix, a couple standard poodles and a Bernese mountain dog, attended a therapy dog screening at Sheridan Manor Sunday.

A Gillette man has started a controversy involving Sheridan's newly hired Police Chief. The controversy is over the man's "million dollar bird." Sheridan Media's Betsy Love has the story:

Last week officials with the City of Sheridan and the Sheridan Recreation District met with representatives from OLC Aquatics, who are the consultants designing the spray park that would be located in Thorne-Rider Park.
