The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Friday that they have listed the greater sage grouse as a candidate species under the Endangered Species Act, saying the bird warranted protection under the Act, but was precluded by higher-priority species. Governor Dave Freudenthal says he accepts the ruling even though he may not agree with it.

The Wyoming Girls School received a special visit Friday from some very talented musicians. A string quartet from the Powder River Symphony in Gillette played for the students as part of an education grant they received to give in-school type performances.
 

At Sheridan City Hall last night, about 30 people came to hear a presentation on how prevention efforts have been taking place in the past few years around the state of Wyoming regarding underage drinking. Mike Vercauteren is the Service Director for the Wyoming Prevention Technical Assistance Consortium. He explains the purpose of the gathering.

In January, officials with First Interstate BancSystem, Inc., headquartered in Billings, Montana, issued a media release that they had filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of shares of its Class A common stock. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has more.

The 2010 Wyoming Legislative Budget Session wraps up in Cheyenne today, with a handful of bills slated to be signed in a ceremony set in the Capitol Rotunda. Among those bills is House Bill 1, the General Government Appropriations. Representative Rosie Berger comments.
