Work continues on the upgrades at the elk pasture in Sheridan.

In an effort to address the public's concerns regarding the condition of the elk pasture in Sheridan, a task force was formed to formulate possible upgrades that would benefit the animals and the community.

City of Sheridan Parks Director Chuck Carbert explains that some of the upgrades are nearly complete, while others will still take some time.

Council budget work session deals with one cent fund applicants.

Tuesday's Sheridan City Council budget work session was an opportunity for nine different local non-profits to explain their requests for Optional One Cent funds. Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey says that the Council has some tough decisions to make about the budget requests.

State Representative Mike Madden

State Representative Mike Madden has announced that he'll be holding a public seminar in Buffalo this Thursday concerning state rules and statutes pertaining to property tax valuation procedures. Madden says concerns raised by Johnson County residents are what prompted the public meeting.

All trustees were present at Monday night's District 2 meeting.

After their Executive Session Monday night, District 2 trustees voted to approve the salary and benefit increases for the 2010-2011 school year for both Certified and Classified staff.

For Certified staff, the base starting salary will remain at $44,500. Both vertical and horizontal movement on the salary schedule will be allowed.

For the first hour of Tuesday's Sheridan County Commission meeting, commissioners heard public comment on the issue of the bid for the County Road 80 project slated to begin immediately.
