Aggravated robbery suspects appear in District Court

20-year-old Gerald “Jesse” Hamlin and 17-year-old Dillon Sutherlin both appeared in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday on charges of Aggravated Robbery. As part of a plea agreement with the State, Sutherlin changed his plea to guilty on a lesser charge of Robbery.

A Pretrial Conference was held in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday for Dennis Poitra Jr, one of three co-defendants charged with 1st Degree Murder in the alleged shooting death of Sheridan Businessman Robert Ernst on August 26th, 2009. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there and has more.

Sheridan resident David Westlake died Monday after being struck by lightning Sunday evening in the Big Horn Mountains.

Just before 6 pm Sunday, July 11th, the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office responded to Forest Service Road 315 to assist Forest Service personnel in regard to a medical incident involving 63-year-old Sheridan resident, David Westlake.

Doane Fire

Lightning from a recent thunderstorm has caused a fire to start in the southeastern section of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Public Affairs Director Al Nash says, however, that the fire, named the Doane Fire because it is near Doane Mountain, is under control.

There are plenty of things going on during Sheridan WYO Rodeo week.

The 80th Annual Sheridan WYO Rodeo got underway over weekend with two nights of concerts and the boot kick-off, all of which were held at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. Slack performances are scheduled for today and tomorrow, and the first of four PRCA Rodeo performances will start tomorrow night.
