Members of the Sheridan City Council, Forward Sheridan are joined by Neltje and Butch Jellis at the groundbreaking for the Hi-Tech Business Park in north Sheridan.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the future site of a Hi-Tech Business Park in north Sheridan. The City of Sheridan and Rice and Sons LLC agreed on a land swap that resulted in the City acquiring 38.5 acres to be used for the business park. The State Loan and Investment Board approved a $2.5 million grant to the City to extend infrastructure to the area.

The Powder River Basin Resource Council will host the 5th annual Harvest Celebration this Saturday in Sheridan. There will be a farmers market at 4 pm followed by home grown music at 5 and dinner at 6 o'clock. Edith Heyward with the Resource Council says that dinner will be a little bit different this year.

In a memo issued late Tuesday from Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle's office, Redle officially made a Declination of Charges in the complaint by Sheridan County Coroner Mark Ferries against Kane Funeral Home.

Annual Wolf Creek Wrangle to benefit Habitat for Humanity September 25th

The Dayton Town Council clicked through their agenda in short order last night. The biggest item on the agenda, Mayor Bob Wood tells us, was reviewing and approving updates to the Dayton Fire District Agreement.

At the Sheridan County Commission meeting Tuesday morning, Commissioners officially approved handing the management of the Kleenburn Recreation Area and the 3-Poles Recreation Area over to the Sheridan County Park and Recreation Board.

The former is effective retroactive to November 17, 2009 and the latter is effective retroactive to May 5, 2009.

The State Auditor's Office is in charge of contracting for data back-up.

The state of Wyoming currently contracts with out-of-state firms for data storage, with the most significant data storage requirements coming from the state Auditor's office. Vicci Colgan Deputy State Auditor, says they were required to give an “intent to renew” notice to the firm by September 30th. And although they have given notice, she says.

City of Sheridan and Army Corps of Engineers working to improve floodplain issues.

Discussion over the Dow pathway in Sheridan highlighted some other problems with the areas surrounding Sheridan's levy system. Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey says the Army Corps of Engineers built a flood control project a half a century ago.

Pianist Josh Wright will perform with special guest Dan Burgess the evening of September 11 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is implementing a new music series, beginning with a concert at the church this Saturday, September 11th. A favorite of Sheridan audiences, pianist Joshua Wright will be here to play a program called “Amazing Grace – Sacred Hymns with Classical Themes.”
