Hospital Taking Health Fair Blood Draw Appointments Monday

Volunteers at Sheridan Memorial Hospital will begin taking appointments for the 2011 Health Fair wellness screenings Monday, August 1st. The blood draws will be held every morning the week of August 22nd through the 27th.

The Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan is currently running a special to help with the influx of cats and kittens that are on the adoption floor. Shelter Executive Director Cel Hope gives us the details behind "Kitty Bargain Days".

After local music-store owner Jon Quarterman's, Q-Man Music, house burned down last week, it seems that every musician in the county wanted to help him in his efforts to rebuild it – and that's only a slight exaggeration.

Johnson County Fair Kicks Off Sunday in Buffalo

The 2011 Johnson County Fair will begin its week-long run Sunday, July 31 and wrap up Sunday, August 7.
Sunday, the dog show will begin at 8am, and open class exhibits will be accepted from 1 to 7pm. FFA exhibits are due at 4pm.

High Fire Danger in the Bighorn National Forest.

Bighorn National Forest officials have announced that conditions on the mountain have reached the point of a high fire danger.

The balmy Friday night couldn't have been a better backdrop for Habitat for Humanities fundraiser called “On the Foundation.” It was the kick-off fundraiser for the construction of their new home on Thurmond Street.

Jim Murray was a journalist who won national sportswriter of the year 14 times and was the one of the only sportswriters to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. Aspiring sportswriter Daniel Mediate of Sheridan may have just started chipping away at those accolades.

Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to the Sheridan County Airport shortly after 10 am Friday morning as a call came in that a single engine plane was attempting to land while experiencing problems with its landing gear.

The Sheridan County Fair gets underway with a full day of open class entries today. Sheridan County Fairgrounds Facilities Director Melissa Albrecht says that having the open class entries this early is something new this year.
