Sheridan County Fairgrounds Gets Listed on the National Register of Historic Places

The Sheridan County Fairgrounds received some good news this week as the National Park Service has formally listed the Fairgrounds Historic District on the National Register for Historic Places.

6th Annual Harvest Celebration is Saturday

The Powder River Basin Resource Council will be holding their 6th annual Harvest Celebration this Saturday in Sheridan. Bill Bensel with the Resource Council explains that the annual event is a chance to showcase food produces at local farms and ranches.

Through the door there's a 3-foot by 10-foot or so walk-in area, complete with about 50 mailboxes on a wall that has a small service window. To the left there's a closet-sized corner for boxes and postage.

Wyoming statewide graduation rates traditionally hover right around 80 percent – the most recent State Board of Education report for the class of 2010 was 80.4 percent. Rates at Sheridan county schools have recently been in the mid-to-upper 80s.

Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery

The City of Buffalo has been searching for a building inspector for a number of weeks, and at last week's city council meeting, City Planner Zach Montgomery requested the council's approval to hire one of the applicants.

The Study for the feasibility of a storage project within the Clear Creek drainage has officially entered Level II, now that the entities involved have hosted a meeting to inform the public of where the study is at and where it will be going.

The Wyoming State Legislature's Joint Revenue Interim Committee will be meeting in Buffalo over the next two days to discuss a number of issues, from wind taxation to taxation of agricultural lands and subdivisions.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Firefighters fear that more wildfires may break out in western Montana and northern Idaho later this week, with more lightning storms in the forecast.

More than 40 folks showed up Wednesday night at the CTEL Presentation Hall at Sheridan College for an informational meeting by the Wyoming Game and Fish, concerning the revised draft of the Wyoming Wolf Plan.
