According to a media release from the Bighorn National Forest, the Gilead Fire on the National Forest has grown to about five acres since Monday. The fire is located about two miles west of Stone Mountain, or about 10 miles northwest of the city of Buffalo.

Hunters will have lots of opportunity to hunt this fall in northeast Wyoming. Mild winters combined with good fawn production has resulted in white-tailed deer and antelope populations being higher than desired in some areas.

Ronda Holwell, District 4 Public Involvement Specialist with the Wyoming Department of Transportation's Sheridan Office reports that contractor McGarvin Moberly of Worland has completed paving the five mile stretch of Wyoming Highway 196 south of Buffalo from mile post 294.5 to 299.5.

Sheridan Memorial Hospital kicked off their Electronic Medical Records system Monday after months of system preparation and staff training.

At Tuesday's city council meeting, Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess suggested to City Planner Zach Montgomery that the city look into adorning the new band shell building in Crazy Woman Square with a plaque commemorating the firefighters and pilots that slurry bombed downtown in 1988 that saved the rest of the buildings from the arson fire that demolished the buildings where the square stands today.
