The Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority Joint Powers Board at their July meeting agreed to issue a Request for Qualifications in hopes of finding a firm to help craft the scope of a target industries study. The board received three proposals, none of which were local.

Now that school has resumed in Sheridan County for another year, officials with School District Two have their sights set on another big year for students and faculty alike. District Two Assistant Superintendent Tom Sachse.

University of Wyoming Atmospheric Science Professor Bart Geerts will be profiled in a documentary about the pioneer spirit of the American West.

More information about the grass fire burning on private land north of Clearmont has been obtained. Sheridan County Fire Warden Bill Biastoch says that crews continue to battle the blaze that is approximately 6-8 miles north of Clearmont. He indicated that a myriad of firefighters have combined to fight the fire. Those include Clearmont Fire Department, Big Horn Fire Department, Goose Valley Fire, the Bureau of Land Management, the Wyoming Forestry Division, the U.S. Forest Service and various ranchers in the area.

Buffalo City Attorney Ben Kirven gave a report to the city council on a number of projects he is working on, starting with the easements on the NW water line project.

Monday was the deadline to file for candidacy for all school districts in Sheridan County.

The Center for a Vital Community is raising a challenge to the town of Sheridan to end poverty within its own city limits. Director, Amy Albrecht, said some of the well-to-do in Sheridan don't realize how big the problem is.

With the school year starting up, there's no question students across the nation have butterflies, and for some, those first-day jitters might not be the good kind.

At their meeting Monday night, the Johnson County School District One Board Of Trustees learned that six persons have filed for five open seats on the school board for the General Election coming in November.
