The 33rd Annual Buffalo Lions Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby, which wrapped up on Memorial Day Monday, was a success again this year, according to Lions Club President Adam Teeten, who said everyone participating seemed to have fun with no major problems reported during the derby.

New charges have been filed against Michael Johnson, a former employee of a Buffalo newspaper, stemming from an investigation that uncovered new evidence against him which resulted in the filing of additional charges and the scheduling of a preliminary hearing next week.

Those wanting to serve on Buffalo's City Council or the Johnson County Commission had until 5pm Friday, May 27th to file their paperwork declaring themselves in the running for the primary election in August.

If I were asked to give a commencement talk to a group of high school graduates this year, here is what I would have told them:
Today’s graduating seniors face a much different world than the one faced by their parents and grandparents.

Banner resident Vicki Taylor has filed as a Democrat for one of two seats on the Sheridan County Commission in this year’s election. Taylor talked about what led to her decision to run for a spot on the commission.

The Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority spent the majority of their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday discussing revisions to the current year’s budget.

The deadline to file as a candidate for this year’s Primary Election in August ended Friday at the end of the business day.

The Sheridan Police Department is currently having issues with incoming telephone calls. This should not affect the answering and response to emergency calls. For now, no calls made to the Sheridan PD administrative number, 672-2413 will be received.

Alyssa Magestro received a pretty sweet graduation present thanks to Prime Rate Motors of Sheridan. During the Project Graduation party for Sheridan High School, Magestro was the lucky student to win the 2004 Ford Taurus that Prime Rate donated for the event.

The last of the candidates to file for this year's primary elections were recorded Tuesday morning.
