Tony Garber Competes in the Leadville Trail 100
On August 20 and 21 Tony Garber from Sheridan ran the Leadville Trail 100. He ran the race in honor of David Westlake who was struck and killed by lightning in the Big Horn mountains in July.
Westlake was already entered to compete in Leadville this year and was on a training run when the tragedy occurred.
Wendell Robison approached Garber about running the Colorado race at David's memorial and made arrangments to have both entered.
Garber was honored to carry David's assigned race bib #847, throughout the race, ultimately carrying it across the finish line.
