December 21st

Cowboys Fall to BYU in the Poinsettia Bowl / Cowgirls Upset 15th Ranked CU / Bronc Wrestlers Host a Dual With Buffalo Tonight

COWBOY FOOTBALL - The Wyoming football Cowboys lost 24-21 to BYU in last night's Poinsettia Bowl steady rain caused issues for both teams, the Cowboys were hurt by two dropped snaps on special teams in the first half that really cost them.

BYU took a 24-7 lead in the 4th quarter but the Pokes roared back to score two touchdowns to get the game close they end this 2016 season with a record of 8-6.

After the game Head coach Craig Bowl talk about a positive experience for his young team at the Poinsettia bowl.

Poinsettia Bowl Kicks Off Tonight at 7:00 / Bronc Wrestlers Host Buffalo Tomorrow / Cowboy Hoops In Vegas Thursday Night

POINSETTIA BOWL - The Wyoming football Cowboys take on BYU in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego tonight we will have the game live on KWYO and 87.7 FM pregame starts at 6:00 with kickoff at 7:00.

Cowboys Head coach Craig Bohl says the Wyoming program is excited to be in San Diego and the players earned the right to play in this game.

And he talked about the match up of the two teams get ready to renew a rivalry that went away when the Cougars defected from the Mountain West conference back in 2010.

2017 Poinsettia Bowl Kicks Off Wednesday Night / Bronc Wrestlers Home Thursday Night / Cowboy Hoops v DePaul Thursday

BRONC WRESTLING - The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers will get back into action Thursday after missing a big tournament this past weekend but senior Hayden Hastings competed at the Reno tournament of champions and finished as the runner up in his division Broncs Head coach Tyson Shatto says it's been a great start to the season for Hastings.

And since the team missed an opportunity to compete last weekend at least they get another shot in the home dual with Buffalo Thursday.Varsity matches are scheduled to get underway at 6:00.

John Scott Selected as the North Head coach for 2017 Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game

The head coaches for the 2017 Wyoming Shrine Bowl football game were selected by fellow high school head coaches around the state from a pool of nominated candidates.

John Scott of Tongue River High School, who led the Eagles to the 1A state championship game earlier this fall, will coach the North team.

“I am grateful to have been chosen for this opportunity and look forward to teaming with Wyoming’s best high school players and the Shriners towards such a worthy cause,” said Coach Scott.

All Weekend Local Sports Postponed / Cowboy Football v BYU in the Poinsettia Bowl Wednesday Night / Broncos fall to the Patriots

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan high school basketball games with Billings Skyview were postponed a make up date as of today has not been set.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs are scheduled to play in the Energy classic tournament over in Gillette starting Wednesday the 28th the Lady Broncs will open with Bishop Gorman high school from Las Vegas the Broncs will open with Clark high school also from Las Vegas.

BH / TR BASKETBALL - The East / West challenge basketball event hosted by the Tongue River and Big Horn basketball teams was canceled over the weekend.

Sheridan Bronc Wrestler Finishes 2nd at the Annual Reno Tournament of Champions

Sheridan high school Senior Hayden Hastings made impressive run in the 170 pound wieght division at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Hayden made it all the way to the finals and lost the match in the closing seconds 4-2 and finished as the runner up. With the 2nd place finish Hastings acheives All-American Status.

Local High School sports Cancellations

The Sheridan high school games with Billings Skyview have been canceled they expect to play them sometime next week.

The Tongue River and Big Horn high schools have canceled the East / West Challenge tournament.

The Arvada/Clearmont Basketball teams have canceled all weekend games.

The Sheridan Bronc Wrestlers will not travel to compete in the Worland Dual Tournament.

The Bronc Swimmers and Divers will not be traveling to Cody and Riverton

Annual Elks Hoop Shoot in Sheridan Wednesday

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot is scheduled for Wed. Dec. 21 at 7PM at the Sheridan College Golden Dome. It is for boys and girls in age groups 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13.

PE Teachers at the schools in Sheridan and Johnson Counties to hold shoot-offs at their schools and send those school champions to the Hoop Shoot to determine the local Lodge champions.

The winners of the Lodge Hoop Shoot qualify to go to the district Hoop Shoot.

Winners can move on to State, Regional, and National Hoop Shoots with expenses paid by the Elks.

Sheridan Hawks Hockey Host Casper Saturday / Sunday / SHS, BH, TR and A/C Basketball canceled / Cowboy Basketball v Cornell Saturday Afternoon

HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY - The Sheridan Hawks hockey team is unbeaten through six games they will play at home this weekend they host two games with Casper tomorrow night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 10:30.

Kirk Viren takes over this season at the Hawks Head coach Viren came up through the Sheridan program his first Head coach was his dad Bob and after being and assistant coach he takes over this winter.

Young Lady Bronc Basketball Team Hits the Road Tomorrow / Broncs Host Billings Skyview / Cowboy Basketball v Cornell Saturday / Broncos v Patriots Sunday

BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS - The Sheridan high school basketball teams they have games with Billings Skyview tomorrow the Broncs play at home while the Lady Broncs travel.

Varsity tip off tomorrow night at Sheridan high school will be at 7:30 we will have it live for you on 14-10 KWYO and 87.7 FM ESPN radio.
