Raising Readers provides children's books for doctors' offices in Wyoming.

Tomorrow morning at the Sheridan Junior High School cafeteria and gymnasium, the 3rd Annual Raising Readers Bookfest & Feast will take place, and is open to the entire family. Money raised goes to increase program visibility for doctors' office children's books, book plates on the back of the books and book marks indicating that Raising Readers provided the books.

Three separate defendants were arraigned in 4th Judicial District Court Thursday. First, 33-year-old Daniel Brown, represented by Hardy Tate, went before Judge John Fenn, arraigned on one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine. Brown allegedly delivered the drug in Sheridan County on August 3rd of this year.

Wendt Criticizes Rep. Lummis on “Afghan”-Mexico Strategy

Democrat David Wendt, who is running against incumbent Cynthia Lummis for Wyoming's U.S. House seat, criticized Representative Lummis this week for some comments she made regarding U.S. Policy towards Mexico. Lummis was recently part of a congressional delegation to visit Afghanistan.

Burglary Suspects Make Initial Appearance in Circuit Court

Two individuals made their initial appearnce on several burglary charges Thursday in Sheridan County Circuit Court.

The two individuals that were allegedly responsible for a string of cabin burglaries in the Big Horn Mountains near Burgess Junction made their initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court Thursday. 19-year-old Shaun Gilkey, and 32-year-old Dustin Yearout are both charged with two counts of felony Burglary, and one count of felony Aggravated Burglary.

The Sheridan Recreation District received this year's usage numbers for Kendrick Pool at the Board's monthly meeting this week. While the numbers show a $40,000 net loss for the season, Recreation District Director Richard Wright indicates that there are a number of factors that played a role in inflating that number.

Cloud Peak Energy's Antelope Mine recently received a presitgious National Reclamation Award from the Office of Surface Mining and the National Mining Association. The Excellence in Surface Mining Reclamation Award was received for successful shrub establishment on reclaimed land.

New Veteran Service Representative at Sheridan VA

A media release from the VA Veterans Service Center in Cheyenne informs us that John Goodell (GOOD-ull), an Army veteran from Sheridan, was hired as the new Veterans Services Representative, or VSR, with an office at the Sheridan VA Medical Center.
