Every year, typically prior to the start of the new school year, officers with the Sheridan Police Department engage in active shooter training.

As Sheridan Media previously reported, officers with the SPD earlier this month conducted RAIDER training at the old Highland Park Elementary School in Sheridan. Sheridan Police Lieutenant Tom Ringley discussed the training recently while he was a guest on our news talk show Public Pulse.

Ringley said the RAIDER training is part of the ALICE Training program that specializes in teaching law enforcement, organizations and individuals how to be more proactive in handling the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event.
