The Sponsored Veteran's Brick Paver Directory located in the Veteran's Plaza in front of the Whitney Building at Sheridan College in Sheridan, now has an additional 104 bricks dedicated to living and dead veterans from across the country.

The recent dedication occurred earlier this month on Veteran's Day. The event was planned to be held in front of the directory, but had to be done inside the Whitney Building because of the extreme cold.

The bricks were purchased by sponsors in the area through the Sheridan College foundation to commemorate a loved one or someone they respect who has served the country. Director of Veteran Affairs Brett Burtis said the directory now features 432 dedicated bricks total, since the last dedication on Memorial Day in 2013. He said the idea for the project began as part of the the Whitney Academic Building Project in 2012.

The college will not do another brick paver dedication for several years for budget and timing reasons, he said, but officials hope to expand the memorial's uses.

A notable brick in the directory is Gen. Phillip Sheridan, a Civil War General for which the city and county are named.
