Buffalo Lions Club Announces Fishing Derby Winners

The 33rd Annual Buffalo Lions Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby, which wrapped up on Memorial Day Monday, was a success again this year, according to Lions Club President Adam Teeten, who said everyone participating seemed to have fun with no major problems reported during the derby.

He tells us more about the weekend derby.

Tuesday the list of winners from the derby were compiled and released by the Lions CLub.

The Grand Prize Winner, Racine Lydic of Sheridan, took home the 2016 Kymco 450 Side-by-Side.

The largest overall game fish, a 27 1/2-inch, 9 pound, 10 ounce Lake Trout, was caught by Rick McCabe of Gillette, and earned him a Remington Model 700 30-06 rifle.

Over $3,450 was given out for 15 different tagged fish caught during the weekend, ranging in value from $50 to $1,000.
The top money tagged fish was caught by Preston Tiffany of Sheridan, who caught the only fish worth $1,000.

Many other prizes, from Coleman lanterns to fishing rods and reels to trout nets and knives were given away each of the three days during drawings at the Lions Club Headquarters at the lake.

The winners of fish species caught by length and weight are:
Rainbow Trout by length, the winner was Tanya Molson of Buffalo.
Rainbow by weight went to Jeremy Klitz of Gillette.
Brown Trout by length went to Frank Auzqui of Buffalo.
Brown by weight went to Janet Korp of Sheridan.
Cutthroat Trout by length went to Dave Bettcher of Sheridan.
Cutthroat by weight went to Ethan Willey of Sheridan.
Trout by length, ages 9 to 13 went to Tessa Christiansen of Buffalo.
Trout by length, ages 8 and under went to Caiden Roberts Of Buffalo.
