Buffalo Mayor Honors Girl Scouts

Buffalo Mayor Mike Johnson

This week, March 12th through the 18th, has been proclaimed “Girl Scout Week” in Buffalo by Mayor Mike Johnson, who honored a local group of scouts at the last city council meeting.

During his proclamation, Mayor Johnson said March 12th marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of the USA, which was begun by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia.
He said Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls and women with the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism and that through the organization girls have gained courage, confidence and character to make their local communities and the world better places.

The Mayor said more than 2.7 million current Girl Scouts, along with more than 60 million former scouts nationwide will celebrate 105 years of this American tradition.
