Buffalo Mayor Thanks Councilmen For Serving

Buffalo City Council at their Tuesday, December 20th meeting.

During the last regular city council meeting of the year, Buffalo Mayor Mike Johnson took the time to publicly thank the outgoing council members Bill Hawley, Dave Long and the late Russ Humphrey, for choosing to commit to serve the public in that capacity.

Hawley and Long chose not to run for re-election in this year's election, opting to step down and allow others to serve, while Humphrey passed away earlier this month, prompting the council to begin the search for his replacement to fulfill the two years remaining of his term.

Councilman Hawley has served since 2010 and councilman Long served a four-year term that ends December 31st.

Councilmen-elect Travis Lawrence and councilman-elect Scott Madsen will take their seats at the January 3rd council meeting, while Humphrey's seat will be filled from a Buffalo resident chosen from submitted letters of interest for the position.

A new council person is expected to be chosen to fulfill Humphrey's term as soon as possible.
