Buffalo Police Issue Mail Theft Alert

Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder has issued a press release warning the public about mail theft which has occurred in Buffalo over the last couple of weeks.

Carder said mail is being taken from the inside and outside drop-off areas of the Post Office, checks are being removed, washed, re-written and used at businesses in the area and around the state.

Carder explains what the public can do to help prevent themselves from becoming a victim.

The police department will be contacting local banks asking them to monitor and report any suspicious activities on accounts, but citizens are encouraged to also check their own accounts.
