Clara Leno celebrated a milestone Monday.

Residents of Elmcroft of Sugarland Ridge joined Leno's family at a party complete with cake and ice cream in observance of the Sheridan woman's 102nd birthday.

Leno said she never dreamed she'd live to be 102.

Michelle Keller, who's marketing manager for Sugarland Ridge, said the facility doesn't throw birthday parties for everyone, but Leno's birthday was a special occasion, given her age.

Keller said Leno's been a resident of Sugarland Ridge for six months, although Leno said she's only lived there for about a month.

Leno is originally from North Dakota but has lived in Sheridan since she was 95 years old. She said her son, Darrel convinced her to move to Sheridan.

Darrel Leno was at the party Monday. He said caring for the home in North Dakota was getting to hard for his mom, so he persuaded her to move to Sheridan. He and his family have lived here since the mid 1970s.
