A busy night is in store Thursday at Sheridan College, with an open house, reception for two lion-dog statues and the first of three holiday concerts.

Erin Hanke, who's director of the new Whitney Center for the Arts, said everything starts at 4 p.m. with a public open house at the Center.

The open house is until 6 p.m., then events move to the atrium in the Whitney Academic Center for a reception in honor of the lion-dog statues. The lion-dogs formerly stood at the entrance to Sheridan's Kendrick Park.

Hanke said the reception will be followed by the concert, starting at 7:30 p.m in the new concert hall in the Center for the Arts.

Hanke said two additional concerts are scheduled on Dec. 6 and Dec. 9. She added the art gallery will be open during the event Thursday, so people can view the Gollings art collection.
