Commissioners Table Rolston Contract

Sheridan County commissioners have tabled a contract with Colorado-based Christi Rolston for archival services, to allow time to seek requests for proposals from other companies, including local companies, for the work.

Action came during Tuesday's commission meeting on a motion from Commissioner Steve Maier following a plea from Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce CEO Dixie Johnson, and others, for the county to seek additional bids.

The contract is to digitally scan juvenile and probate records in the clerk of district court's office so the original documents can be sent to Cheyenne for archiving. About 900,000 pages of work are involved. In other action Tuesday, commissioners denied a conditional use permit that would change the aviation lighting on an existing 500-foot communication tower at 42 Eby Street in Story, and approved a CUP for storage and repair of vehicles associated with Stanley Sanitation LLC at 48 Wagon Box Road in Story.

Commissioners also appointed Roger Hamilton to the county predator management board and approved a cooperative agreement with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission for the Tongue River Canyon Public Access Area. Commissioners approved a request for federal and state airport aid to help pay for snow removal equipment at the county airport. The Federal Aviation Administration share would be $571,500, and the State Aeronautics would provide just under $23,000. The county airport would pay just over $15,000.
