County Approves Added Funds for Airline

Sheridan County commissioners has pledged more than $475,000 in additional funds and filed a grant application for nearly $1.2 million from the Wyoming State Aeronautics Commission as guaranteed minimum funds for continued operations of Denver Air Connection.

The money is to be used to establish and maintain a Wyoming Air Service Enhancement Account, and the county's share of the funds is contingent on additional matching funds from the cities of Sheridan and Buffalo, Johnson County and private business and individual contributions.

Action took place at the commissioners' staff meeting Monday morning. Administrative Director Rene Obermueller said the added funds are in conjunction with expansion of Denver Air Connection service to Riverton.

Obermueller said after the meeting that the state money has already been received by local officials, and Riverton has received an equal amount from the state. She said the cities of Riverton and Lander, and Fremont County together have pledged $600,000 to the fund.
