County Will Now Charge For Fingerprint Cards

Johnson County will now charge a $5 fee for fingerprint cards, after the county commission approved a request from the sheriff's office to set the fee.

The county has not charged a fee in the past, but Sheriff Rod Odenbach explained that he wanted to set a fee to help with the cost of maintenance on the machine to print the cards.

Fingerprinting is usually done for background checks, including those for teachers, hospital employees, or for those applying for a concealed carry permit.

Two counties in the state do not charge for fingerprint cards, and the rest charge a range of $5 to $15 per card, according to discussions.
There are normally two cards issued per fingerprinting session, and the sheriff's department suggested a $5 fee per visit, not per card, which was approved by the county.
