One phase of the city’s deer management program began earlier this week. Sheridan Police Lieutenant Travis Koltiska says that the archery program that allows bow hunters to sign up at the police department and hunt deer in designated, undeveloped zones within the city limits started Tuesday.

Koltiska said that the second phase of the program, the chapter 56 program, will get underway in late October or early November.

Koltiska said that they have a permit to take 100 hundred deer within city limits if necessary. He added that last year, the city harvested 39 deer through the chapter 56 program.
